Livermore Indivisible, Indivisible East Bay, The Independent, Livermore Vine, and Pleasanton Weekly are hosting a virtual forum on Sunday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m., featuring the three current candidates for Alameda County Sheriff – Register below to receive the link for the Zoom webinar.
The forum will feature the three candidates for Alameda County Sheriff – Gregory Ahern, Yesenia Sanchez, and JoAnn Walker. This is the first time in his 14-year tenure that Sheriff Ahern has faced challengers in his re-election. According to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) website, the sheriff oversees a current adjusted net budget of approximately $185.7 million and over 1,500 employees, including in excess of 1,000 sworn personnel. ACSO serves the unincorporated area, city of Dublin, Peralta Community College District as well as various county facilities. The sheriff is responsible for a vast array of tasks and duties, including operating the Coroner’s Bureau, a criminalistics laboratory, the Santa Rita County Jail, and the County Office of Emergency Services.
